SALT LAKE CITY, UT—Outside hitter
Carol Grasso of the
No. 7-ranked SLCC Volleyball team (15-5, 3-0 SWAC) was named the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player-of-the-Week, announced on Tuesday.
The award for
Grasso marks the second consecutive SWAC Player-of-the-Week honor for a Bruin Volleyball player (sophomore outside hitter
Bailee Kendall – 9/30/13).
Grasso led the Bruins with 16 kills in a
3-1 victory over SWAC rival
No. 16 North Idaho College (10-6, 3-1 SWAC) on Saturday and turned in 14 kills for SLCC in a
3-1 win over
No. 4-ranked College of Southern Idaho (15-7, 3-1 SWAC) last Thursday.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil,
Grasso leads the Bruins in total kills with 299 and kills per set with a 3.78 average. She also has a team-high 36 service aces through 20 contests.
Grasso is second on the squad in total digs with 241 and has six solo blocks thus far. The 5-foot-10-inch tall freshman earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Pizza Hut Invitational in Sterling, CO earlier this season and currently has an attacking percentage of .274.
