Baseball: SLCC Claims Region 18 Title

Salt Lake City- The top seeded SLCC Bruin Baseball team took the Region 18 title with a 6-5 comeback win over Western Nevada. Down three heading into the ninth inning the Bruins rallied to score four runs and win in walk-off fashion. The Bruins are now 43-8 overall and will host a District Playoff next weekend at Cate Field.
Ruddy Acosta got the no decision pitching seven innings allowing five hits while Aaron Robbs picked up the win in two innings of work. Dominique Taylor was 3 for 5 with three RBI. Kennedy Kinkade was the hero of the game hitting a two run double in the ninth to give SLCC the win. Kinkade finished the game 2 for 5 with two RBI. SLCC’s Dominique Taylor was named tournament MVP.
The Bruins will host the District Playoff next weekend at Cate field. The playoff is a four team tournament. The winner of the playoff will earn a berth to NJCAA Nationals in Grand Junction Colorado.
