TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 3, 2022) – The Region 18 Volleyball tournament is officially underway at Salt Lake Community College.
The tournament opened Thursday with the top four teams from the Scenic West Athletic Conference, led by league-leading Salt Lake. SLCC justified its top seed with a win in Thursday's opening round, downing Southern Idaho 3-0 by set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-20. Salt Lake is now 26-3 overall.
SLCC took control early and never looked back, holding Southern Idaho to a hitting percentage of just .009. In comparison, the Bruins finished with 35 kills on .165 hitting.
Kylie Schroeder led Salt Lake with 11 kills, while Sandora Sasaki posted 9 kills. Laura Fiabane finished with 30 assists and Randi Reeves posted 20 digs.
The Bruins will advance to play the winner of a match between Snow College and USU Eastern in Friday's Region 18 championship match. The contest is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
