No. 11 SLCC Baseball dominant in Region 18 opener

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 12, 2022) – The No. 11 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team wanted to make a statement in the opening round of the Region 18 tournament.

SLCC started early as Dalton Hodge hit a two-run single in the first inning, with the Bruins eventually posting a 5-0 lead after the inning. Leading 6-1 in the third inning, Braden Winget hit a solo home run and Chase Taylor hit an RBI single to eventually boost the Salt Lake lead to 8-1. Winget also posted a two-run home run in the sixth inning to close out the game.

Bruer Webster led Salt Lake at the plate, going 3-of-4 while scoring a pair of runs. Winget was 2-of-3 with 4 RBI's. Spencer Jones threw 6 innings in the win, also posting 6 strikeouts.

Salt Lake will play a game on Friday against the winner of a matchup between Southern Idaho and Southern Nevada. The game will start at 12:00 p.m. at Cate Field.
