TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 11, 2022) – The Salt Lake Community College Softball team started the Region 18 tournament off well Wednesday, easily winning in an opening round.
 
SLCC posted a 12-5 win over USU Eastern to move into a winners' bracket semifinal on Thursday with Southern Idaho. The victory lifts the Bruins to 36-15 overall.
 
Highlights for Salt Lake in the win included a two-run double by Kaylee Pierce in the fifth inning, a hit that broke a tie and led to a breakaway win for Salt Lake. Pierce also hit a home run in the fourth inning.
 
Salt Lake will play Southern Idaho on Thursday, with the winner advancing to Friday's Region 18 championship game.
