CSI Baseball falls in opening round of district tournament

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team fell to sixth-ranked Central Arizona 22-16 Thursday in the opening round of the District Playoff.
The Golden Eagles took the 13-8 lead but a huge inning by CAC in the eighth proved to be too much for CSI to overcome.
CSI will take on Southeastern Friday at noon in a loser-out game. Southeastern lost to Salt Lake CC 10-1 earlier on Thursday. The winner of the four-team District playoff will advance to the JUCO World Series.
The Golden Eagles had big days from several players at the plate. Garrett Thompson was 3-for-4 with three home runs and six RBI. Chase Higginson was 3-for-5 with two RBI and Andrew Astin and Morgan Albrecht were each 2-for-4 with home runs. Astin had two RBI and Albrecht plated three runs.
On the mound Mason Olson pitched the first seven innings, giving up five earned runs with eight strikeouts.
