SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team beat Indian River 25-12, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13 and then swept Western Wyoming 25-20, 25-14, 25-10 to open the 2022 season Friday with two wins.
The Golden Eagles trailed 12-8 in the fifth set against Indian River but fought back for the win.
Alizaysha Sopi led the way with 14 kills and 10 digs. Anastasiia Nicolnikova added nine kills. Setter Janke Pretorius finished with 34 assists and 14 digs. Kait White posted six kills and four blocks.
CSI settled in for its second match, dominating Western Wyoming.
Sopi finished with nine kills and eight digs, while Pretorius had 27 assists.
Tommie Schaffner got hot at the service line, finishing with four aces. Leading the way defensively was Miyu Tsurumaki and her 12 digs. Kaulana Kalulu-Sugai added six. Allie Thayne had seven kills for the Golden Eagles.
CSI, 2-0, travels to Treasure Valley Thursday for its next match.
