Late goal not enough for CSI Men's Soccer

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - The CSI Men's Soccer team suffered their second defeat at the hands of in-state rival North Idaho, falling 2-1 on the road to the 8th-ranked Cardinals.
The two teams were just about even in first half shots, but North Idaho was able to strike in the 23rd minute, ultimately narrowly out shooting the Golden Eagles 9-7. In the second half, the Golden Eagles had to weather an onslaught of shots, as the Cardinals fired off 16 shots, and found their second goal on a penalty kick in the 58th minute.
CSI was able to create some opportunities offensively as they finished the match with 13 shots, seven of which were shots on goal. The Golden Eagles made a late push as a penalty shot goal from Jakob Hollon cut the lead in half, but the run come up short as the Golden Eagles were bested by the Cardinals by a goal for the second time this year.
Juan Porto Pascual led the Golden Eagles with a pair of shots on goal, while Nicolas Anatoh and Adria Lledo Sampol also added a shot on goal. Lasse Brier suffered the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles, despite making eight saves.
The Golden Eagles now head to Kenniwick, Washington, in hopes of snapping their three game losing skid, as they will square off with Pacific Northwest Christian on Saturday. The Golden Eagles bested the Gladiators 6-0 back on September 12th.
