JEROME, Idaho - The CSI Women's Soccer team came out of the gates firing and capitalized on an early goal that led to a 2-1 victory over Truckee Meadows on Saturday afternoon.
Right off the opening kick, before the fans had even found their seats, the Golden Eagles went on the attack and just 15 seconds into the match, Brielle Cooper found the back of the net on a ball from Lily Lowe to put the home eleven up, a lead they would never vanquish.
Just a few moments later, the Golden Eagles struck again as Annie Layton scored on an assist from Bailey Collings.
Despite not being able to find another score, the Golden Eagles were on the attack for much of the match, finishing with 26 total shots. The Golden Eagles had multiple goals called off in the second half due to infractions, keeping the game within striking distance for Truckee Meadows.
The Lizards were able to cut the lead in half, late in the 84th minute, but the Golden Eagles were able to salvage their late lead and hang on for the 2-1 victory.
Layton and Cooper, the two goal scorers, had multiple other chances as they both finished with four shots. Avery Charlesworth got the win in goal for the Golden Eagles making one save in her 80 minutes of game action.
The Golden Eagles will return home next week, for their final weekend of games at home, beginning with a match against USU-Eastern on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
