Salt Lake Baseball Lose Game 2 of the JUCO World Series

The Bruins Lose a Heartbreaker, Matchup with 5 Seed Shelton State

GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO- No. 8 seed Salt Lake (1-1) lost a back and forth game against No. 9 seed Lake Land College (2-0) 11-9. 

The Bruins took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first off a two-run home run from CF Luke Jacobs. Salt Lake scored two more runs in the second inning, but lost the lead after Lake Land erupted for six runs in the third. 

Salt Lake scored a run in the fourth off an RBI single from 1B Jalen Seward. 

In the fifth inning LF Chandler Reber tied the game with an RBI double and then took the lead with an RBI single from 2B Jake Mortensen. C Easton Romero extended the Bruins lead with an RBI single in the sixth and a sac-fly in the seventh inning from RF Hudson Manwaring gave the Bruins a 9-6 lead. 

The Lakers had another big inning as they scored five runs in the top of the eighth. A HBP with the bases loaded followed by a grand slam put Lake Land on top for good. 

Two of Lake Land's runs were unearned as Salt Lake committed three errors. The Bruins had twelve hits while Lake Land hit two timely home runs and recorded five hits overall.

The Bruins are (1-1) in the JUCO World Series played in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Bru Cru now play five seeded Shelton State in a win or go home game at 10:00 am on Tuesday May, 27th.
