The Bru Cru win the JUCO World Series, Officially the 2025 National Champions

GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO- No. 8 seed Salt Lake (5-1) out-battled No. 1 Walters State (4-2) winning 9-6 to become the 2025 JUCO World Series Champions. 

The bottom of the order came up big for the Bruins throughout the National Championship. SS Jake Olsen broke open the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the second. LF Chandler Reber followed with another RBI single and 2B Jake Mortensen brought in Olsen on a sac-fly. 

Walters State out of Morristown, Tennessee hit the game's first home run in the third and trailed 3-2 after three innings to Salt Lake. 

Jake Olsen hit a solo home run for Salt Lake in the top of the fourth to bump up the Bruins lead to 4-2. 

Walters State took their first and only lead with three runs in the fifth to go up 5-4. Salt Lake tied the game at 5-5 with a run in the sixth. 

The Bruins reclaimed the lead as 1B Jalen Seward ripped a two RBI two-out double in the top of the seventh. Salt Lake's two run lead was cut in half in the bottom of the seventh by a Senator's solo home run against RHP Austin Taylor. 

Austin Taylor recorded the win for Salt Lake and pitched three strong innings in relief. The home run was the only damage that Taylor took. The sophomore struck out three batters and surrendered two hits in all. 

The Bruins got two clutch insurance runs in the eighth inning as Olsen reached on an error and Reber hit another RBI single. 

RHP Darius Henderson shut the Senators down in the bottom of the ninth with two strikeouts. This was Henderson's third save of the tournament and eleventh overall. 

Jake Olsen was named the Player of the Game as he went 2 for 4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Reber and Seward both recorded two hits and two RBI. 

The entire tournament was played at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colorado. The attendance for the Title Game was approximately 12,305 spectators.
